Online retail giant Amazon.com opened a new 1 million-square-foot order fulfillment center in Chesterfield at the Meadowville Technology Park in Fall 2012. The Conlan Company selected Louis Smith Construction for the site concrete work on this expansive project. Over 33,000 lf of curb / curb and gutter were placed, 1,400 lf being a special slip formed “truck curb” that had a 12 in. tall curb, 12 in. thick gutter, and an overall depth of 4 ft. from back of curb to the front edge of the gutter. Also 1,350 syd of sidewalk was poured, which required excavation and stone placement during installation. This project entailed an expedited work schedule with all work being completed during a 5 month period.
