The world’s largest online retailer, Amazon.com, opened eight order fulfillment centers in 2012, with one of them being located in Dinwiddie. Louis Smith Construction performed the site concrete work on this project while working with Branscome Incorporated. The project scope included curb and gutter installation totaling over 18,000 lf, as well as the installation of all driveway entrances following VDOT specifications. A portion of the curb and gutter included a special slip formed “truck curb” with rebar throughout the entire length. This specially designed curb and gutter had a 12 in. tall curb, 12 in. thick gutter, and an overall depth of 3 ft. from back of curb to the front edge of the gutter.
