Louis Smith Construction, while working with Metro Earthworks, was tasked with creating a drainage channel to catch and direct storm water runoff from the side of Shoosmith landfill in Chesterfield. Approximately 100′ of the channel was a u-ditch with vertical walls that then transitioned over 20′ into a flat bottomed v-ditch which continued for another 100′.
